How to Play

  • To mount a target stick to the platform, gently press down into a flange until it stops.
  • Black target sticks are 3 points; orange are 2; natural are 1.
  • To remove a target stick from the platform: hold the flange down with one hand, and with the other hand, twist the stick slightly while gently pulling up.

CAUTION: Target stick may "pop" out during removal: Do not place any body part directly above a target stick as you remove it from the flange.

There are two sets of rules to choose from.

CLASSIC RULES are fun for anyone, from casual to competitive play. Feel free to modify these rules as you wish.

TOURNAMENT RULES require more precision and strategy and may not be modified in an official tournament setting.

Setup

  • Place platforms 18 feet apart (approximately 7 paces), with Ringaard™ logos facing each other. (Or place them any distance you like.)
  • Play as individuals (1-on-1) or in teams (2-on-2).
  • Each player/team picks a color based on ring grips.
  • For 1-on-1 play, opponents stand on opposite sides of the same platform (left or right), and switch sides between rounds.
  • One round is completed when 4 rings are tossed (2 per player/team).
  • For 2-on-2 play, teammates stand at opposite platforms the whole match—one to the right, one to the left—and switch sides after every game.
  • Before the game begins, players determine who goes first using any common method—such as shooting odds and evens, thumb wrestling, or rock-paper-scissors.
  • The player going first stands to the left of the platform, the opponent stands to the right, and players alternate tosses to complete the round. The player on the left starts every round.
  • To toss a ring, players must stand behind the front of the platform, and within one foot from the side of the platform.

Scoring and Winning

  • Count the points of all target sticks captured each round, and keep a running tally.
  • First player to score 21 points or more, with a margin of 2 points or more, after a round is completed, wins the game.
  • First player/team to win 2 games, wins the match.

Setup

  • Same Set-Up as in the CLASSIC RULES, but with one modification: Place platforms 20 feet apart (about 8 paces).

Scoring and Winning

  • Each target stick can only be captured for points by one ring per round.
  • Count the points of all available target sticks captured each round, and keep a running tally.
  • First player to score 21 points exactly, with a margin of 2 points or more, after an equal number of rings has been tossed, wins the game.
  • If a player scores over 21 points when the opponent has under 20 points, that player/team “busts” and goes back to 15 points, then continues play.
  • Each player/team can only bust once per game. After a player/team busts, they can win the game by scoring 21 points or more, with a margin of 2 points or more, after an equal number of rings has been tossed.
  • When both players/teams have 20 points or more, the first player to gain a margin of 2 points or more, after an equal number of rings has been tossed, wins the game.
  • First player/team to win 4 games, wins the match.
  • The Platforms and Target Sticks are made of solid pine wood. Keep them dry at all times. To clean, use a soft brush or dry towel.
  • The Rings are made of natural sisal rope. Keep them dry at all times. To clean, use a soft dry brush.
